Just Call Me The Thinker

Cool cabinet door isn't it?
I have been staring at it for a month,
knowing full well my plan.

Here is the problem, I over think.
Hopefully you are not so afflicted.
Over thinking has been a habit of
mine for a long time.

My new word, or phrase for this year is over thinking. It has to end.
Please tell me I'm not the only one
doing this?

This is what happens, an idea will pop
into my head, I will spend weeks
working out all the details, only to
over think a project to death. And
that is exactly what happens, I seldom
put the project into action.

Well this habit has to end! It is
going to be a struggle changing, but
I just want to go from point A to
point B.

Wish me luck in the new year and I
will keep you posted with my progress.

Quiet Reflection Sunday- Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is my favorite holiday. A time for
family and friends and taking care of others. It's a time
for feeding birds and animals. A time for giving thanks.
A time for food!! I love food. I am fortunate that I am
able to select what I would like for Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanksgiving is also a time when I remember those who
have moved on. I miss them so.

This year there is a new addition to the family, my son
will be flying in from San Francisco and my daughter
is cooking.

Today I think about my mother and the past. We always
had a large crowd at Thanksgiving. All I'm going to say
is Catholic. I'm sure you get the idea. It would take days to plan, shop, cook and ugh, the clean up.

I see Thanksgiving as a process, an installation of love.
There is beauty and art from cutting the vegetables to
serving a feast.

So I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I'm praying for those who will not be eating and
enjoying company on Thanksgiving.

One more thing, it would seriously be remiss of me not mention football!!  When is kick-off?

Quiet Reflection Sunday

Normally I start out my Sunday posts with a photo I had taken and a quote. Well this Sunday I decided to do something different.
My blog has always been about the happier side of life, well things are not always that way. I have decided to come clean, to be honest.

I have been an artist all of my life, from the time I could hold a
crayon my parents paid for lessons. They encouraged my work to a point. I was told art is a hobby and not a career. Well, along the way I have found that art is a way of life, whether I was folding
baby clothes or cooking.

I just never felt I had enough time to work. Do you feel that way?
To be honest, I thought, if I were a man and art was my career,
I could go to my studio every day and come home in the evening.
Everyone would accept that, right? As a woman, my career as an artist came second to being a mother and working outside the home.

To get to the point, here I sit, my children are grown up, I have
all the time in the world to produce and yet I do nothing, or
very little. It's not for lack of ideas, they seem to come day and
night. I haven't a clue why I am not working. Any suggestions?

So back to Quiet Reflection Sunday. I love taking pictures and I love encouraging quotes. I generally select a quote that inspires
me at the time. So I have one for today, hoping it will encourage
me to work, and maybe you too.

An artist's studio

Some time ago I wrote a post about the disaster that was my studio. To some of you, it may still seem like a disaster. Well this is the best that it gets. So i thought I would show some pictures of where I create.

I have left off my computer desk, nothing to see there, plus it's a mess of paperwork.

I love to read blogs and have seen some really wonderful photos of studios. My guess, I'm not going to win any awards for the most elegant studios.

How many of you really have totally picked up studios?
